"I am here. And I am fine," he answered. "And you?"

"I’m okay. How much did you hear?"

"Most of it. I’m sorry, Audrea."

"Who cares. Whatever was in the past doesn’t matter. We love each other, and that’s why we got married, not because of Hojo’s stupid plan."

Sephiroth was impressed by her strength. "Agreed. Can you get out?"

"No, I’ve been trying for hours. Whatever they used on these was probably designed for you." Audrea tried to stand up, tried to test the limit of her bonds. "I can stand but I can’t go anywhere. You?"

"I am stuck here. I believe that Hojo has been planning for this for some time."

"You think it was the Turks following us last night?"

"Most likely." Sephiroth turned his head to look at her.

"Where do you think we are?" she asked.

Sephiroth thought for a moment. "There was a supplementary facility in Nibelheim, where the Jenova project was located. We may be there."

"Or somewhere else entirely. Not much chance of rescue then. Unless Mulder pulls off something brilliant. Which, by the way, he’s been known to do." Audrea shrugged. "What do you think Scarlett means by she has other ways of making you agree?"

"I do not know." He stopped talking when the door opened. Hojo came back in. "At last." He walked up to Sephiroth. "My son." He smiled benevolently. "When I am done, you’ll be the father of the perfect human. Won’t that be nice?"

"Not really." Sephiroth retorted. He winced as Hojo drew blood from his arm. "What does Scarlett plan to do with us?"

"Ahh, I can’t tell you that. You’ll see." He took the blood sample from Sephiroth over to a bench and began to analyze it. Audrea tried to sleep on the cold floor, but was awoken when Hojo needed to take several samples from her. He dragged her over to another lab table and strapped her down to take them. When he left, she was still strapped down.

"Sephiroth?"

"What?"

"I … This isn’t how I want it .. I mean…"

"I know. You don’t want this child conceived in a lab."

"I’m scared." He was surprised. It took a lot to scare Audrea Morgan. It took even more for her to admit it.
